Dear Computer Lady,
Got a new HP touch screen laptop (w/Windows 10) last Christmas, 2015.
Now, my 6 month old laptop computer will only power up to a blue screen, with a small message box, that tells me I need to insert the installation disc and reinstall everything!
This new laptop did NOT come any installation disc (as did previous ones), so I don’t quite know what to do. Should I take it to a local repair shop, which would probably cost more than it’s worth, or should I contact HP and just ask for an installation disc? Don’t know if I’m I even entitled to a free installation disc for this 6 month old laptop, or not? PLEASE advise.
Thank you for all your efforts to help us oldsters, Susan
I would contact HP. Not only should they have a disk for you, but if the computer is only 6 months old, it should still be under warranty.
Most computer manufacturers keep recovery disks on hand for a couple of years, and should provide them to you for a small fee.
I would tell HP about the blue screen because it sounds like there is some sort of hardware issue going on that a recovery disk alone will probably not fix.
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
