What is LogMeIn?

Hi computer lady,

I am a senior citizen with very little knowledge of computers and I hope you can tell me what log me in is.

Every time I turn on my computer something comes up on the screen telling me a log me in update is available.

I have an HP computer with windows 7

Thank you for your help, Lorie

Dear Lorie,

LogMeIn is a software program that allows you to access your computer remotely.

For example, if I want to be able to access my work computer from home, I could (if my company allows it) install LogMeIn on my work computer, leave it running when I left at the end of the day, and then log into the work computer from home and finish up the paper that I had been working on during the day.

I am a little concerned that you have this software installed on your computer, but you have no idea what it is. Someone must have installed it on your computer, hopefully, it was someone that you trust who is trying to help you out with your computer.

If you don’t use LogMeIn, and have no idea how it got installed, I would suggest that you go to the Control Panel, click on “Uninstall A Program” and remove LogMeIn. You don’t want people to access your computer without your knowledge or permission.

Elizabeth
