Dear Computer Lady,
Two of my emails have been hacked.
Besides changing my passwords, is there any thing else I need to do?
Thank you for all of your help, Jan
I’m assuming that by hacked you mean that someone gained access to your email account and either changed your password, tried to scam people on your contacts list or sent out email messages using your account.
If that is the case, then changing your password is the right fix. In addition to changing the password, please make sure it is a secure password. Since two of your email accounts have been hacked, this might be someone who knows you, or knows about you.
Don’t use the names of your pets or family members in your password. Don’t use dates of birthdays or anniversaries for your password either.
Don’t use the same password for different email accounts.
Create passwords that use a phrase instead of words, and make sure to use numbers and symbols (if allowed).
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
