Dear Computer Lady,
I am running windows 7 and IE9. I would like to switch my email to windows live, but I don’t know how to do this without losing my email folders. I don’t like incredimail because the cute graphics don’t work if you mail someone without it, and there are ads. But I don’t want to lose my email folders. Any ideas?
It seems that you have found yet another reason to not get started with incredimail in the first place. They don’t have the ability to export your email messages in a format that can be imported into other email programs. However, I do have a couple of ideas for you.
Once you have set up your email address in Windows Live Mail, you can open incredimail and forward the messages you have saved to yourself. Then, go back to Windows Live Mail and get your mail. This will work if you only have a few messages saved, it would probably take a very long time if you have hundreds of messages.
Another simple but time consuming method would be to copy the contents of each email message and then paste them into a text file of some sort. My favorite program for saving information this way is called, Treepad. It gives you the tools to organize all your information in a tree structure, and it has a powerful search function so that you can find your information again when you need it. (I use Treepad to write this newsletter every week)
A third option that I found online, but have not tried is a program made specifically for exporting messages from Incredimail. You can read a review of the program at about.com:
I have not used this program, but it seems to have some good reviews, and you should be able to use the trial version if you only want to export the messages one time.
I hope this helps you with your problem.
