Old Gmail Accounts

[ad]Dear Computer Lady,

I used to have a Gmail account but haven’t used it in years. Do they deactivate the Gmail accounts after a certain length of time?

I know the do on Yahoo and hope they do in Gmail.

Thanks, Peggy

Dear Peggy,

According to Gmail, they reserve the right to remove an account and all its data after 9 months of inactivity.

That doesn’t mean that the account will be deleted right at the 9 months mark, but that it might be at any time after that.

So, if you haven’t used your account in years, it is pretty safe to say that the account is now gone.
