Open Outlook in InBox

Dear Computer Lady,

Please tell me how to ensure that when Microsoft Outlook opens it does so in “IN BOX”?

I use word 2003 and I have Vista Home Basic.

Thanks, John

Dear John,

This setting is a little bit harder to find than most, but here it is:

1. Open Outlook and click on “Tools” and then “Options” in the menu bar.
2. In the Options dialog box, click on the “Other” tab at the top.
3. In the General section of the dialog box, click on the “Advanced Options” button.
4. In the Advanced Options dialog box, the first item says, “Startup in this folder:”.
5. Click the dropdown list and select “Inbox”.
6. Click the “OK” button in the Advanced Options dialog box.
7. Click the “OK” button in the Options dialog box.

Now, when you open Outlook, it will go to your inbox.

For those of you using Outlook 2007:

5. Click the “Browse” button and select “Inbox”, then click the “OK” button.
6. Click the “OK” button in the Advanced Options dialog box.
7. Click the “OK” button in the Options dialog box.
