Spell Check Forwards and Replies

Dear Computer Lady,

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR NEWSLETTER! I always find something I didn’t know in it.

I have a new Acer laptop which I love. I have Microsoft Outlook as my email program, just like my old computer’s.

Now when I spell-check an email, it also spell-checks the email received. I don’t care about their errors, only mine! How do I stop this?

Thanks, Deb

Dear Deb,

There is a setting on your options that you can change to fix your problem. Here is how you fix it.

If you are using Office 2010:

1. Open Microsoft Office Outlook if you don’t already have it open.

2. Click on the “File” tab, then click on “Options”.

3. In the Outlook Options dialog box, click on the “Mail” button in the left column.

4. In the spelling section, click to put a check mark in front of “Ignore original message text in reply or forward”.

5. Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the dialog box to save your changes and close the window.

If you are using Office 2007 or Office XP:

1. Open Microsoft Office Outlook if you don’t already have it open.

2. Click on “Tools” in the menu bar, and click “Options” in the drop down list.

3. In the Options dialog box, click on the “Spelling” tab.

4. Click to put a check mark in front of, “Ignore original message text in reply or forward”.

5. Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the dialog box to save your changes and close the window.
