Dear Computer Lady,
I am using the hard drive from an old laptop as an external hard drive but am unable to remove the operating system from it. How do I do that?
Thanks in advance….. Dick
You did not specify what you have done to try to remove the files from your hard drive, but I can tell you what I would do.
I would make sure I have another copy of the files that I am keeping on that hard drive somewhere else, then format the hard drive. Formatting will erase that hard drive, so be sure to have your files saved in another location first.
To format the hard drive, just hook it up to your computer, open File Explorer, right-click on the drive and then click, “Format…”.
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
