DVD Stuck In Drive

[ad]Dear Computer Lady,

I can not eject my DVD from my mac computer. Please help.

I have tried so many things to eject it, but no luck.

Thank you, Tom

Dear Tom,

I don’t usually answer Mac computer questions, but this sounds like a hardware problem.

Occasionally, something in a CD or DVD drive can get warped, and the drive doesn’t open on its own any more.

All you have to do, is make sure the computer is shut off, and find yourself a large paper clip.

You will find a small hole in the front of the drive, Insert the paper clip to release the latch, then pull the drive open and you will be able to remove the DVD.

If the drive is physically damaged, you might have to get a replacement drive, or use an external USB drive.
