Dear Computer Lady,
Last night about 8:30 I started charging my computer, it was at about 17%. When I went to bed about 9:30 it was only about 50%. When I got up at 4 it was about 95%. Do you think it’s the charger or the computer?
Thanks and have a good day. Carolyn
Dear Carolyn,
It is probably the battery in the computer.
If you use your laptop on battery power most of the time, you will find that you need to replace the battery every 2 to 3 years.
This is just due to the nature of batteries.
If, like most people, you use your laptop plugged into the wall, you will not notice the loss of battery life and will not need to replace it.

One other point: if you do use your laptop plugged into the wall, take the battery out of it. Leaving it in is hard on the battery. I used to do that and my battery got to the point where it would only hold a few minutes worth of charge. Now I leave it out and just put it in once a month, run it down, recharge it and then take it out again to keep it in good shape.
