Time is Not Set Up Message

[ad]Dear Computer Lady,

Each morning, when I start up my computer the message says that the Time is not Set Up and have to go to BIOS? F to set up the Time?

The next morning, when I start the Computer again, it will still have the same message, even though I have already set up the Time?

Dear A. W.,

This is a classic sign that the battery on your motherboard needs to be replaced. It is just a small watch type battery that most computer shops like mine usually keep in stock, and would be happy to replace for you.

The battery is not very expensive, and the labor cost will depend on the type of computer you have. The motherboard on a laptop is much harder to get to than the motherboard on a tower.
