I had noticed that the arrow keys didn’t work for me, but hadn’t thought too much about it until I got your email message. After reading your message, I did a little investigating, and here is what I found.
This is an issue that Google is aware of, and they are working on. In fact, as I was writing this answer, the arrow keys began to work in my Gmail page. It appears that they have to apply this fix to individual accounts, so it may take days for every email account to get fixed.
