Dear Computer Lady,
I work for a small business.
We would like to have a Facebook presence. I, as a social media challenged employee, tried to set up a business account. I must have made a wrong selection in the process because it keeps coming up with my name with a business page instead of in the business name with me as administrator.
I have tried to correct the problem to no avail. I keep disabling it until I try something else.
My next step would be to shut it down all together and start from scratch. My concern is that Facebook won’t allow me to set up a new account using the same email address.
Will that be an issue?? Mollie
Once you have cancelled the Facebook account, you should be able to use the same email address to create a new one.
When you create a Facebook business page, you should first create a personal page. You can create it in your name, or someone else in the company. The personal page doesn’t have to be one that is used by the person, but Facebook business pages work much better when they are created under a personal page.
Once you have created your personal page and are logged into it, go to:
and start the process of creating your business page.
First, select the kind of business you are creating the page for.
Fill out the information that is required, and click the “Get Started” button.
Follow the prompts to select a profile picture, fill in the about section of the page, and select a unique URL.
Now, you will have a business page that you can edit and also select administrators for.
