Dear Computer Lady,
Carbonite has a post that Word Press has been hacked and customers have been receiving ransomware.
Have you seen this?
I did not see this specific message from Carbonite, but I don’t doubt it.
WordPress is a blogging platform that has been installed on millions of websites around the world. I use WordPress on the question and answer part of my website, it is a great way to organize the many categories of questions and answers I have written over the years, and has search functions so that you and others can easily find what you are looking for.
Since WordPress is installed on so many websites worldwide, it is a prime target for hackers. If they can get into a popular website and install their malicious software and trick people into downloading it, they can spread that software. My WordPress site has been hacked before, which is why I now have it protected with SiteLock.
What you need to do to protect yourself from sites that might be infected is to make sure you have a good antivirus/antimalware program installed on your computer and make sure it is kept updated.
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
