How To Put Webpage Shortcut on Desktop

How do I put your name on my laptop screen?



Dear Homer,

I can only guess that you want to put a shortcut to my website on the desktop screen of your laptop, so that is what I will give you directions for.

Since most people use Internet Explorer as their web browser, we will start with directions for IE.

1. Open Internet Explorer and go to my website at

2. Right-click on the page.

3. In the context menu that appears, click “Create shortcut”.

4. A dialog box will open asking you if you want to put a shortcut on your desktop, click the “Yes” button.

Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox do not give you an easy way to put a shortcut on your desktop.

    I have learned so much from you over the years. Thank you.
    I’m happy to share something that I discovered about putting shortcuts on the desktop. You can just drag them from your bookmarks, and they will be copied to the desktop. It works with IE, Google and Firefox.
    Also, you can create a folder(s) on the desktop and drag the shortcuts into it (them).
    I hope all are enjoying Mother’s day.
