Control Center Keeps Getting in My Way

Dear Computer Lady,

Ever since I updated to IOS7, I keep having trouble when scrolling through things on my screen. Every time I scroll up from the bottom, a grey bar shows up with volume, timer and camera icons.

I guess this is supposed to help me access these things, but it gets in my way more than it helps me.

Is there any way to get rid of this nuisance?

Thanks, Sandy

Dear Sandy,

I know exactly what you are dealing with! I had the same problem until I turned off the control center when I was working within apps. Now, I can access the control center from my home screen, but not when I am using an app.

Here is how to turn that feature off or on.

1. Go to your iPad home screen, and tap the, “Settings” icon.

2. In the settings app, tap on, “Control Center” in the left-hand column.

3. In the right-hand column, find the setting, “Access Within Apps” and tap on the button to turn it off.

The button has a green background when it is on, and a white background when it is off.
