Dear Computer Lady,
I just got an iPad-5, and I would like to put the information from my laptop on it, including contacts, saved e-mails, etc. as well as synchronizing future info.
I have a dell laptop running Windows 7 and Outlook 2003.
Can you help me? Jerrie
I also have an iPad and Outlook on my computer, and have tried several different methods of synchronizing contacts, calendar and emails.
I have used iTunes to sync with Outlook.
I have tried syncing Outlook with Google and then Google with my iPad.
I have tried a couple of third party apps that were supposed to sync Outlook with my iPad.
While everything I tried worked to some degree, none of them worked well enough to commit my data to.
Here is what I have ended up doing.
I no longer use Outlook for my email. I now download all 5 of my email addresses into Gmail, and have installed the Gmail app on my iPad. Now, I can check my mail on any device that has internet access, and when I delete or move messages on one device, the changes are automatically reflected on all the devices. In addition, Gmail filters out almost all the junk mail.
I use iCloud for my calendar and contacts. I use the built in apps on my iPad, and open icloud.com on my desktop and laptop. Again, I only have to enter a contact or appointment once, and it is instantly available on all my devices.
I would love to know if anyone else has found an easier way to sync everything.
