Dear Computer Lady,
Hi I have a ipad, but want to get it hooked up to my wireless printer, but have no idea how to do it.
I have actually not printed anything from my iPad for a couple of reasons. Mostly, I use the iPad to save paper and take my information with me in digital form.
My printer connects to my network via a wired Ethernet connection. This setup works for all the wired and wireless computers in the house, however, I would have to change it to a wireless printer in order to print from my iPad.
Lets look at your options for your iPad and printing.
First, if you want to print from your iPad quickly and easily, your best bet is to get an apple AirPrint-enabled printer from the apple store.
If you want to check and see if your current printer will work, Apple has a list of printers that will work with your iPad on their website at: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
Since your printer is a wireless printer, there is a pretty good chance that it will work with your iPad.
There are also printing apps that you can buy on the app store that will enable you to print to a local printer. I have not used any of these apps, so I can’t comment on them.
There is also a device you can purchase that will allow you to print from your iPad to your USB or Ethernet connected printer. I found one (pictured above) on Amazon for $89. Just click on the image above for more details.
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
