Do I Need iTunes?

[ad]Dear Computer Lady,

When I purchased my PC it came with iTunes installed. I continually get update notices regarding this program and I always allow the update.

I notice that this program takes up a lot of space. Do I really need it? I don’t listen to music on my PC and if I did are there other programs that would take the place of iTunes?

Thank you so much for your help, Ron

Dear Ron,

iTunes is the program you would use to sync an iDevice (like an iPhone, iPod, or iPad) with your computer. You can use it to transfer music, pictures and other files to your iDevice.

If you don’t have one of those apple devices, then you don’t need to have iTunes installed on your computer.

Your computer probably has windows media player installed, and you can use that to listen to music on your PC.
