OpenOffice has Crashed

[ad]Dear Computer Lady,

I have Open Office installed instead of pricey Microsoft Office. All of a sudden I am getting a message when I open OO or any document that it has crashed. Document Recovery option usually fails.

What do I do?

Thanks for always being there for me and for everyone else.

Laurel

Dear Laurel,

The first thing I would do is try a re-install of Open Office.

Go to the Control Panel, click on “Uninstall a Program” under Programs.

Click on Open Office and click “Uninstall”.

Once you have uninstalled all Open Office programs listed in the control panel, exit the control panel and restart your computer. Don’t skip this step, it is often the difference between this working and not working.

Once your computer has shut down and then started back up, go to www.openoffice.org, download the latest version of OpenOffice and install it.

If you are still having problems after re-installing, go back to www.openoffice.org and click on the link that says “I need help with my OpenOffice”.
