Dear Computer Lady,
I’m a long time subscriber.
Ran into a problem last week. Running Win10 Pro, Firefox.
I accidentally struck a number of keys on lower left side of keyboard. Both monitors went black and then came back in about 30 seconds.
When I try to add a new FOLDER (right click on desktop) to either monitor, the popup menu where you can “view”, “sort by”, “refresh”, etc and where you can select “new” which normally brings up a sub-menu which allows you to select “short cut” or folder” does not bring up the sub-menu. Wen I select “new”, I see the “waiting hourglass” and both screens go black and then reappear. No new folder.
Any suggestions?
TIA Bob (Oklahoma)
Dear Bob,
My only suggestion would be that you shut down the computer and then start it back up. Since you have been having this problem for more than a week, you have probably already done that, but some people just let their computer go to sleep when not using it, and that is not the same as shutting it down.
I can’t think of anything that you could have done by pressing some keyboard keys that wouldn’t be resolved by shutting down the computer.

I know hardly anything about Windows 10, but I still use Windows 7 Pro. Is it possible to use a restore point date prior to this happening? Not sure if this would work, but it might be worth a try.
