Dear Computer Lady,
Is there a way to boot Windows 10 without putting in a password?
If you are signing into Windows 10 with your Microsoft account, then you need the password. It helps to keep your information secure and keeps others from signing into their computer with your Microsoft account.
A quick way to tell if you are signing in with your Microsoft account is to look at the user name. If it includes your email address, then you are probably signing in with your Microsoft account.
If you are signing into Windows with a Microsoft account, you can switch from the Microsoft account to a local account. However, you will lose the advantages of using a Microsoft account like automatic syncing of your OneDrive folder.
If you are signing into Windows 10 with a local account, you can actually change the settings so that you don’t need a password.
I will give you directions for both these things in the next couple of articles.
