Dear Computer Lady,
I had Windows 10 updated to my Windows 8 and I actually like it. I had a virus and sent my computer out to be fixed but when I got it back it defaulted back to 8.
The company who fixed it said they cannot put 10 back on. Is that true? Is there another way I an get 10 back for free again?
Thank you for all your help in all your newsletters.
Since you already had Windows 10 installed on your computer, you should be able to install it again, Microsoft will recognize your hardware and automatically activate Windows 10
When you upgraded to Windows 10 originally, Microsoft generated a license certificate that is linked to the hardware of your computer. It stores that certificate online in a database. If you need to install Windows 10 again on that same hardware, it will check and find that certificate and automatically activate Windows 10.
