Resetting User Password

Dear Computer Lady,

I’ve converted to Windows 10 & since then am unable to log in as a user,(forgot my password) though I can as administrator.

Initially, I follow the prompts asking for the USB thumb drive to be inserted to make another password.

And then, I’m asked to put in a disc. I have a DVD-R disc, which does not work.

Can you please furnish me with “noob – ez” instructions, please? Thank you most kindly!

Dear Joseph,

Since you are able to login as an administrator, you can quickly and easily change the password on the user account from the administrator account.

Here is how:

First, you want to open the control panel. Depending on the version of Windows 10 you are running, you can either access the Control Panel by right-clicking on the start flag, or click on the start flag, type, “Control Panel” and click on “Control Panel” in the results.

Once in the Control Panel, click on “User Accounts”, then click on “User Accounts” again.

Click on “Manage another account”, and click to select the account you want to change the password for.

Click, “Change the password” for the account, type your new password twice, add a hint if desired, then click the “Change Password” button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Hope this fixes your problem, Elizabeth
