Volume icon is missing

Dear Computer Lady,

The volume control icon has disappeared from my computer. There is a control on the speakers that I can use, but cant do it on the computer.

How do I get it back on the computer?
I am using Windows 7.

Thank you, Georgia

Dear Georgia,

Here is how to put the speaker icon back in the system tray.

Right click on a blank spot on your taskbar.

In the context menu that appears, click on “Properties”.

In the dialog box that opens, make sure you are on the “Taskbar” tab and find the “Notification” section, and click on the “Customize…” button.

Click on the blue words that says, “Turn system icons on or off”.

Find the volume icon, click the button next to it, and click on “On”.

Click “OK” in all the dialog boxes to save your changes.

It is long past time to upgrade from IE6. IE9 has been out for quite a while.

Running old versions of IE leaave you open to attacks from websites that have been infected with malware. You really should upgrade IE all the way to IE9
