Dear Computer Lady,
Hi, I want to Thank You for All The Great Information Through The Years. I doubt I would be as Confident When I’m on my PC.
I’m confused as to when MS Windows Version 7 is going to lose Support. I saw an announcement that it was going to be in late 2015. Last Week I saw an ad at a National Office Supply store that had New desktop computers with a Windows 7 desktop with 500 gigs of RAM and 1 Terabyte . I am using XP and I don’t want Windows 8.1.
Can you verify that Windows is going to stop support for Windows 7 ? I was looking to buy the Windows 7 version and install it, But if I can buy a new Windows 7 Desktop,And it will be supported for the next 5-6 years,Then That’s the way to go I think.
I’m 74 and I’m not too keen on learning Windows 8. Any Ideas on my thinking ?
Thank You, Darell
You are in luck! Microsoft will not end extended support for Windows 7 until January 14, 20200. That gives you almost 5 years for a computer that you purchase today with Windows 7.
You really don’t want to be using a computer once support has ended, because without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information.
Your other option, would be to wait until Microsoft Releases Windows 10, which I have had a chance to play around with a little bit, and it looks much easier to use than Windows 8.
It’s Your Turn: What do you think?
