Dear Computer Lady,
I have saved some files on CD and they are all now read only. How do I remove the read only so I can edit these.
Thank you, Donna
Your files became read only when they were transferred to the CD disk. That is because you can’t edit files when they are on a CD.
Once you have copied the files back to your hard drive, you can highlight all the files in any folder by clicking on one of the files and then pressing they Ctrl & A keys on your keyboard. This selects all the files in the folder.
Once all the files are highlighted, you can right click on any one of them, and click “Properties”. Click to remove the check mark from “Read Only” and then click “OK”.
That will be much faster than doing them one at a time.
