Welcome Screen Settings

Dear Computer Lady:

I’m running Windows XP. How can I prevent the Windows Welcome Window from appearing over my desktop every time I leave my computer for a few minutes. Then I have to click on my name to open up my desktop.  It’s really annoying to do this every few minutes. Thanks, Myrna

Dear Myrna,

You are getting the welcome screen after leaving the computer because of an item in your screen saver settings. It is easy to change.

1. Right click on your desktop, and click on “Properties” from the drop down menu.

2. Click on the “Screen Saver” tab.

3. Look in the middle of the window, and you will see a setting that says, “On Resume, Display Welcome Screen”. Just click to remove the check mark from this setting, and click “OK” at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
